What personal data Price Tracker handles, why we handle it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
Last updated August 30, 2026
01Scope and who is responsible
This notice explains how Shopify Price Tracker, a trade name of the business operating Price Tracker in the United States, handles personal data in the Price Tracker website and application. Contact for privacy questions: help@shopifypricetracker.com.
It covers the public marketing site, account signup and sign in, the monitoring application, service emails, and support. It does not cover third party sites you visit or the source stores you choose to monitor, which run under their own policies.
02Our role
For account creation, billing administration, security, support, and our own business operations, we decide why and how personal data is used, so we act as the controller, or the business under United States state privacy laws.
Where an organization uses Price Tracker and adds content or configuration that includes personal data, we handle that content on the organization's instructions and act as a processor or service provider for it. Organization owners are responsible for what their members add.
Paddle acts as Merchant of Record and as its own controller for the payment data it collects at checkout.
03Data we handle
- +Account and authentication data: name if you provide one, email address, hashed sign in credentials or Google sign in identifiers, session and token records, and account status.
- +Organization data: organization name and handle, membership and role records, invitations, onboarding state, and plan and entitlement records.
- +Monitoring configuration and outputs: the store and source URLs you add, product and source matches, saved filters, and the recorded price, availability, and change history collected from public catalogs.
- +Billing and subscription metadata received from Paddle: subscription and transaction identifiers, plan, status, currency, amounts, renewal and trial dates, and payment outcome events. We do not receive or store full card numbers.
- +Support and communications: messages you send us and our replies.
- +Email operations data: delivery, queue, bounce, complaint, suppression, and unsubscribe records for the emails we send you.
- +Security, audit, and diagnostic data: administrative audit log entries, application error and incident records, and server logs.
- +Device and usage data: IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, and feature interactions.
- +Analytics data: Google Analytics 4 collects usage and device information about site and app visits, using an identifier stored in your browser.
04Where the data comes from
- +Directly from you and from other members of your organization.
- +Automatically from your device and browser when you use the site or app.
- +From the public Shopify catalogs you choose to monitor.
- +From Paddle, through checkout results and subscription webhook events.
- +From service providers we use for hosting, email delivery, and analytics.
05Why we use it, and our legal bases
Where privacy law such as the UK or EU GDPR applies to you, the legal bases below apply. Where it does not apply, we use the data for the same purposes.
- +Create and secure accounts and organizations, and provide the monitoring service: performance of the contract with you.
- +Operate billing, trials, renewals, and entitlements with Paddle: performance of the contract and compliance with legal obligations such as tax and accounting.
- +Send service emails, including sign in and account emails, digests you enable, and billing notices: performance of the contract and our legitimate interest in keeping you informed.
- +Provide support and respond to requests: performance of the contract and our legitimate interest in helping customers.
- +Protect the service against fraud, abuse, and security incidents, and keep audit and error records: our legitimate interest in security, and legal obligations.
- +Understand usage and improve the product through analytics: our legitimate interest in improving the service, or your consent where local law requires consent for analytics cookies.
- +Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and comply with law: legitimate interest and legal obligation.
06Who we share it with
We share personal data only with these categories of recipients:
- +Service providers that host the application and database, deliver email, and provide analytics, acting on our instructions.
- +Paddle, as Merchant of Record, for checkout, payment, subscription management, tax compliance, and invoicing.
- +Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants, where needed and under confidentiality.
- +Authorities, courts, or other parties where disclosure is required by law or needed to protect rights and safety.
- +A buyer or successor, if the business is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this notice continuing to apply.
07We do not sell your personal data
We do not sell personal data for money, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not run advertising networks or advertising trackers on this site. Analytics is used for product and site improvement only.
08International transfers
We operate from the United States and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries, so your data may be transferred outside your home country.
Where a transfer is subject to UK or EU rules, we rely on an appropriate transfer mechanism available under those rules for the provider involved, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses in the provider's data processing terms. You can ask us for details of the mechanism that applies to a specific provider.
09How long we keep it
We do not keep personal data longer than we need it. Retention depends on the category and purpose:
- +Account, organization, and monitoring configuration: kept while the account is active, and deleted or anonymized after closure once no legal or dispute need remains.
- +Monitoring history: kept while the account is active so you can see change over time, and removed with the account.
- +Billing and tax records: kept for the period tax, accounting, and financial rules require.
- +Security, audit, and error records: kept for a limited period appropriate to investigation and legal defense.
- +Email delivery, suppression, and unsubscribe records: kept as long as needed to honor your preferences and prevent unwanted email.
- +Backups: data can persist in routine backups after deletion until those backups are cycled out.
10Security
We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk. These include encryption of traffic in transit, managed and access-controlled database hosting, row level security so an organization can reach only its own records, server side checks of organization membership before data is returned, service credentials kept out of browser code, and administrative audit logging of privileged actions.
No service can promise perfect security. If a breach affects your personal data and the law requires it, we will notify you and the relevant authority within the required timeframe.
11Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to certain processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already happened.
If you are in the UK or EEA, you may complain to your data protection supervisory authority. If you are in a United States state with a privacy law, you may have the right to appeal a refusal, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To make a request, email help@shopifypricetracker.com from the address on your account, or tell us how to reach you. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we may ask an authorized agent for proof of authority. We handle requests within the period required by applicable law.
12Emails and your choices
Some emails are part of the service and cannot be turned off while your account is open, such as sign in and password emails, invitations, security notices, and billing and subscription notices.
Optional emails, such as monitoring digests and alerts, follow your account settings, and messages that include an unsubscribe link honor that choice. We keep a suppression record so an unsubscribe or bounce is respected in future sends.
13Cookies, local storage, and analytics
We use browser storage and cookies that are needed to run the service, including your authenticated session, an interface preference cookie that remembers whether the sidebar is open, and a local session identifier used to group activity.
We also load Google Analytics 4, which sets its own storage to measure site and product usage. You can block or delete cookies and browser storage in your browser settings, or use a browser or extension that blocks analytics. Blocking essential storage will prevent sign in from working.
14Automated decisions
We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you using solely automated processing. Automated plan limit enforcement and monitoring alerts are operational features of the service and do not evaluate you as a person.
15Children
Price Tracker is a business tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child gave us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
16Third party sites and public source information
The service links to third party sites, including Paddle and the source stores you monitor. Their own privacy notices govern what they collect from you.
Monitoring reads product information that a catalog publishes to the public, such as titles, prices, and availability. The service is not designed to collect personal data from those sources, and you should not use it for that purpose.
17Changes and contact
We may update this notice. The current version always appears here with its date, and material changes will be highlighted where reasonable. Questions or requests: help@shopifypricetracker.com.
